Commentaires:
St. Isaac's Cathedral is the largest orthodox church in Saint Petersburg, its size is just inferior to St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, St. Paul's Cathedral in London and Cathedral of Saint Mary of the flower in Florence. Before the revolution in 1917, St. Isaac's Cathedral was the main cathedral in Saint Petersburg; in 1928 the cathedral building passed to The Glavnauka (Central Administration for Scientific, Scholarly-Artistic, and Museum Institutions) as a museum monument. In 1931 one of the first anti-religion museums in Soviet Russia was opened in the cathedral. Since 1948 the cathedral has been functioning as a museum « St. Isaac's Cathedral ».
